Captures the rich spiritual and historical significance of Sheikh Noorul Mubeen's burial site, a revered religious figure who was exiled to the Cape in 1716. The photograph focuses on the 99 steps that ascend from Victoria Road up the mountain slope to his grave, offering a visual tribute to the saint who played a key role in the spread of Islam in this region.
A tour guide in the image brings people to the site to share some of this history, explaining the careful placement of these burial grounds around Cape Town and the deep respect these figures command within the Muslim community.
Technically, this image was created by taking of hundreds of photographs and then seamlessly stitching them together, providing the viewer with a high-definition experience that reflects the importance of this sacred space in the hearts of local Muslims.
