Swartland Gum Trees . Landscape - Oil on canvas (76 x 38 cm) framed This painting is a scene looking towards Piketberg in the Western Cape. In the searing summer heat, the Swartland offers very little respite. Usually, the only shade is found under the ubiquitous gum trees. I have tried to capture the welcome shadow under the trees in the blazing fields of wheat stubble.

I am an architect by profession but have always been an artist by inclination. I work in oils, pastels, ink and charcoal. I am now able to spend more time on my artistic pursuits painting for my own pleasure as well as the occasional commission.
