AJ Burns (1985S) is a full time, award-winning professional artist based in Cape Town. He is represented in 15 selected galleries across South Africa and 2 in the UK.

His work is unique in that he blows the paint (using only my mouth) to create all of his paintings. He does not use any tools of any sort (no straws, brushes or any other equipment). The only thing that touches the canvas or glass is his breath and the paint.

“Through the Gap” is painted on both sides of three sheets of glass that are bolted together, with space between each sheet. This creates a unique three-dimensional effect to the work. It has a floating frame behind it, to hang it on the wall.

He is most well known for this fish paintings that are abstracted, as if viewed through the water surface, and are full of movement and texture.
